NLG provides a consistently high level of client-focussed ecology services to Network Rail infrastructure projects. NLG is a preferred supplier given it has demonstrated an ability to consider and incorporate challenging client milestones whilst simultaneously complying with legal requirements and consulting and negotiating effectively with Natural England. NLG has a solution-based philosophy but will always guide the client clearly on legal requirements. All required fieldwork is completed diligently and report writing is clear with any ecology licence requirements completed and licences acquired in good time.

Neil Lee-Gallon
Principal Ecological and Managing Director
Neil established NLG Ecology in 2008 and has over 26 years working experience within the field of Ecology and Countryside Management. He has experience of working in both the public and private sectors, including project management of large infrastructure and utility projects from design through construction, medium and small scale schemes, habitat management and habitat creation. Neil specialises in habitat, vegetative, protected and notable faunal species ecology and mitigation; holds and has held survey and mitigation licences for a range of protected species including bats, great crested newt, white clawed crayfish, otter, water vole, sand lizard, natterjack toad and barn owl. He is a registered consultant under the Natural England Mitigation Class Licence scheme for badger, and low impact works in repect of bats, great crested newt and white clawed crayfish.
This experience as a professional ecologist is enhanced through previous roles as a Countryside Ranger resulting in a pragmatic and practical approach to ecology and nature conservation. Neil has worked throughout the UK, for the United States Forest Service and the Department of Conservation, New Zealand.
Neil is a Chartered Environmentalist and full member of CIEEM, holds PTS for rail competence, a CSCS card and is a NPTC qualified tree climber.

Marcella Lee-Gallon
Office Manager
Marcella has over ten years' experience working in senior administration roles in a variety of sectors including academia and event management. Her extensive organisational and HR skills are an asset to our expanding business. More recently she was a secondary school teacher and primary outdoor education leader, and her teaching expertise is used to enhance our in-house training programmes.
Marcella project manages survey and logistics. She ensures NLG Ecology Ltd employees meet industry standard competences and accreditation for regulatory requirements, particularly as Sentinel Co-ordinator for our Network Railwork and utility clients. Marcella's role includes co-ordinating our Risk Assessment and Method Statement methodlogies and procedures.

Kelly Lomas
Senior Ecologist
Kelly has proven project management experience for large projects. She is an experienced and proficient ecologist with specialisms in bat and GCN survey technics and mitigation, and Phase 1 Habitat surveying. After joining NLG Ecology Ltd in early 2016, Kelly has continued to develop her ecological knowledge and skill base in a wider range of protected species including Phase 1 habitat surveys, amphibians, badgers and invertebrates. She undertakes detailed habitat appraisals asa well as Biodiversity Impact Assessments.
Kelly holds a Class 2 bat and great crested newt survey licences and holds several bat mitigation licences. She is an associate member of CIEEM, CSCS/BALI and PTS accredited.

Liam Fullard
Ecologist and Senior GIS Technican
Liam began his ecological career as a student placement with NLG Ecology Ltd several years ago. He is always been a keen ornathologist, and built on this skills to gain his first class degree. He has developed his expertise and knowledge developing robust survey and mitigation skills of a range of protected species, in particular badger and GCN. He has gained a Natural England GCN Licence, PTS railwork and CSCS/BALI accreditation. Liam's ideal day is road cycling in Europe.

Ewa Tomalak
Assistant Ecologist
Ewa joined NLG Ecology Ltd with specialism in auqatic invertebrates after studying in Europe, and has recently expanded her experience in surveying and mitigation of amphibians, now working to gain accreditation for water voles and other protected species. Ewa is PTS railwork and CSCS/BALI accredited. Her ideal day would be investigating riparian species in water courses, and mushroom hunting along with her beloved dog.
